Accentuate the Positive

Ok, so I haven’t been blogging because I haven’t been taking many pictures and/or making any other kind of art. I have actually been doing some other things though.

I got a very short haircut (see updated profile photo).

I transferred to the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.

I’ve recently joined the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids (yes, Druids).

I’m assisting an arts and crafts group at an adult day care center once or twice
a week as service learning associated with my gerontology class.

I no longer eat meat (mostly because pizza and potatoes aren’t meat).

I made an amazing batch of tomato relish.

I crocheted a pair of shoes (well, one shoe that was too small, but I’m working on some that fit)

I’m learning to meditate.

I’m learning tai chi.

I’m learning kundalini yoga.

I’m learning to practice walking meditation.

I’m connecting to my source.

I’m taking a positive psych class that emphasizes self-improvement.

I’m going to make dinner now.

Atlantic City's Most Wanted

Barry, along with other local business types, has been "arrested" by Jerry's Kids (the Muscular Dystrophy Association). He's required to raise bail of $3,000 before his July 30th lock-up date so we'd appreciate contributions. In any case, he'll be spending the 30th behind bars (which is really funny if you're me).

You can make donations at: https://www.joinmda.org/atlanticcitylockup2008/barrybender

Thank you!

My New Best Friend

Barry picked me up from work last Friday so we could run some errands, have dinner and buy a NEW CAR FOR ME!!

I've been without a car of my own for a while now and have seriously enjoyed being able to drive myself to work, school, around in circles, etc.

She/He (no name=gender neutrality for now) is a 2008 Hyundai Accent complete with CD player, air conditioning and manual transmission that includes crazy Euro-style reverse. Name suggestions welcome.

A World Without W.

This is a picture I'll be using in an upcoming speech about Al Gore and why he should have been our president. I've chosen it as a visual representation of what the world may have looked like had that been the case.

It is, of course, a dramatization.

Allo Allo James!

Thanks for checking in so faithfully.

Someday there may be something interesting here for you to see.

Until then, this'll have to do.

Bad Blogger. Bad, Bad, Bad.

I haven't picked up my camera in months and I spend most of my time writing thrilling essays about Machiavelli, the nature of reality and the like.

I can't remember the last time I read a book that didn't involve aspects of personality and how they affect adjustment.
(OK, yes I can... it was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. But I can't remember the one before that.)

I haven't made a piece of jewelry or artwork of any kind in weeks.

I have feuding in-laws and a fun-filled surgical day at the hospital to look forward to over the holiday weekend.

My point? I haven't blogged in months, but it's not like I'm doing something fun instead.

Zoo-tastic

Barry and I went to the Philadelphia Zoo last Thursday to celebrate my 29th birthday (yes,I will be celebrating my 29th birthday next year as well). Even with the twenty thousand children running around and screaming (apparently everyone had the day off from school for Rosh Hashanah, not just Barry), we had a great time.

After I enjoyed a very Harry Potter moment in the reptile house, we rode on the Zoo Balloon,

saw some animals,

and learned an important lesson about parrots.
